2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files or data elements that are stored on, or accessed from, a visitor’s browser or device when a website is used.

Cookies may be used to:

• operate and secure a website;

• remember user and cookie preferences;

• maintain website functionality;

• protect forms against misuse;

• understand how visitors interact with a website.

Similar technologies, including browser local storage, session storage, pixels and device identifiers, may perform comparable functions.

3. Legal framework

Under Section 25(1) of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (“TDDDG”), storing information on, or accessing information from, a visitor’s device generally requires the visitor’s consent.

Consent is not required where the technology is strictly necessary to:

• transmit a communication through a public telecommunications network; or

• provide a digital service expressly requested by the visitor.

Where the use of cookies or similar technologies also involves processing personal data, the processing is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

4. Cookie categories used on this website

Necessary technologies cannot be disabled through the website’s cookie-preference tool because they are required to operate or securely provide the website and its requested functions.

The legal basis for storage or access on the visitor’s device is Section 25(2) TDDDG.

Where personal data is processed, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests are the secure, reliable and technically effective operation of the website and the prevention of spam, fraud, attacks and misuse.

Provider:

Google Ireland Limited

Gordon House

Google reCAPTCHA analyses whether an interaction with the contact form is likely to originate from a human visitor or from an automated system.

For this purpose, Google may use or process:

• IP addresses;

• browser and device information;

• operating-system information;

• language settings;

• referring website information;

• mouse, keyboard and other interaction data;

• cookies;

• browser local storage;

• device or browser identifiers;

• information concerning whether the visitor is signed into a Google account;

• reCAPTCHA security and risk-analysis results.

The exact identifiers and retention periods used by Google may vary depending on Google’s current technical implementation, the visitor’s browser, device and Google-account status.

Google reCAPTCHA is classified on this website as a necessary security technology because it is used to securely provide and protect the contact form.

The legal basis for storing information on, or accessing information from, the visitor’s device is Section 25(2) TDDDG insofar as the technology is strictly necessary to provide and protect the contact form requested by the visitor.

The legal basis for the associated processing of personal data is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Our legitimate interests are protecting the website, contact form, systems and business communications against spam, automated attacks, fraudulent submissions and misuse.

9. Google Drive and Google Workspace

Contact-form submissions are sent to and stored in a spreadsheet in Google Drive through the Business-Alignment Google Workspace account.

Google Drive is used as a storage destination for information voluntarily submitted through the contact form. It is not used on this website for advertising, behavioural profiling or website analytics.

The use of Google Drive as a form-storage destination is described in detail in our Privacy Policy.

Form information is transmitted to Google Drive after the visitor submits the contact form.

The provider is:

Google Ireland Limited

Dublin 4

Ireland

10. Contact-form submission through Squarespace

The contact form is provided through Squarespace.

When a visitor submits the form:

• Squarespace processes the information required to transmit the submission;

• the submission is forwarded to the configured business email address;

• the submission is sent to a Google Drive spreadsheet;

• where the form contains a required email field, information may also appear in Squarespace’s Contacts or Form Submitters area.

Submitting the form does not register the visitor for a newsletter or marketing mailing list.

The contact form remains available regardless of whether the visitor accepts Squarespace Analytics cookies.

11. Cookie consent management

When visitors first access the website, the cookie banner provides the following options:

• Accept all;

• Reject non-essential;

• Manage preferences.

Necessary and security technologies remain active because they are required to operate and protect the website and its requested functions.

Analytics and performance cookies remain restricted unless the visitor gives consent.

The visitor’s choice is stored for a limited period so that the website can remember the selected preference.

12. Changing or withdrawing consent

Visitors may change or withdraw their consent at any time with effect for the future.

To change a preference, open the “Cookie Preferences” control displayed on the website.

Visitors can then:

• review their current selection;

• accept analytics and performance cookies;

• reject analytics and performance cookies;

• change an earlier selection.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.

Visitors may also delete cookies through their browser settings. Deleting the cookie-preference record may cause the cookie banner to be displayed again.

13. Browser settings

Most internet browsers allow visitors to:

• view stored cookies;

• delete individual or all cookies;

• block cookies;

• block cookies from particular websites;

• delete browser local storage;

• configure privacy and tracking preferences.

Blocking all cookies through browser settings may affect necessary security, preference or website functions.

14. No requirement to accept optional cookies

Visitors are not required to accept analytics or performance cookies in order to:

• access the general website content;

• read the legal pages;

• use the contact form;

• submit a business inquiry.

Necessary and security technologies remain active because they are required to securely operate the website and contact form.

Squarespace and Google may use affiliated companies, subprocessors, data centres or technical service providers located outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States.

Where personal data is transferred to a country for which the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision, the transfer may be based on that decision.

Where no adequacy decision applies, transfers may be protected through appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures where required.
